Preparing a parcel between mainland France and Romania starts with two precise addresses and a description of the contents. What is specific to this route?
France and Romania are EU member states. Goods in free circulation can generally move between them without import customs duties at the internal border. This does not remove product restrictions or the paperwork required for a sale, regulated goods or a particular service. See the EU Council’s explanation of the customs union.
This guide concerns mainland France and Romania. A French overseas destination must be assessed separately; do not use the same assumptions simply because the address includes France.
Write addresses so the driver can find the recipient
At the French address
Include the street number, street, postcode, municipality, recipient’s name and building or intercom details. For a business, add the company name and reception hours.
At the Romanian address
Include the street and number, locality, postcode and county (județ). Where relevant, add the Bucharest sector, block, entrance, floor and apartment. Keep the locality separate from the county.
Personal belongings, purchases and returns
List the actual contents rather than writing only “personal effects”. For a student’s box, for example, distinguish clothing and books from any electronic equipment. Do not pack food, liquids or batteries without checking the EPS restrictions and obtaining confirmation for the proposed contents.
For a return to a seller, obtain its return instructions and reference before booking. Photograph the packed goods and retain the invoice or other evidence of value. A return shipment needs its own accepted booking; an earlier outbound service does not automatically cover the return.
Plan collection in either direction
State clearly whether the parcel starts in France or Romania. Measure and weigh each closed carton separately. Tell EPS if collection is from an apartment, a hotel or a warehouse, and whether the person handing over the parcel can meet the driver at the agreed access point.
Request an estimate for your actual postcodes and desired date. Public holidays, access difficulties and the confirmed service can affect the schedule; this page does not promise a fixed transit time.

Can I combine several cartons into one declared parcel?
Give the dimensions and weight of each carton. Do not tape separate boxes together as a substitute for declaring the number of packages. Follow the labels and handling instructions supplied for the booking.
Does an EU route mean every item is accepted?
No. Carrier rules and EPS contractual exclusions still apply. Ask before packing an unusual or restricted article.
